Political Journey so far

  • In 1977, he won the Lok Sabha elections for the first time at the age of 29. He was elected as a member of Parliament from Chhapra.
  • From 1980 to 1989, he served two consecutive terms as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Bihar.

As railway minister

When Lalu was the Railway Minister, the Indian Railways came out of the deficit and returned to profit. Due to this important achievement of the railways, many management schools praised Lalu Prasad’s leadership and invited him to address hundreds of students from Harvard, Wharton, and other prestigious institutions. This achievement of the railway was also monitored by the students of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
