At a time when there is opposition across the country to the ‘Agneepath’ scheme introduced by the central government for army recruitment, now businessmen from the army and the government are calculating its benefits. In this regard, Anand Mahindra, the owner of Mahindra Group, has announced the employment of firefighters in his company by tweeting and calculating the merits of Agneepath Yojana.

Anand Mahindra further wrote that I am saddened by the violence on the Agneepath program. When the plan was considered last year, I said – and I repeat – the discipline and skills acquired by the firefighters will significantly qualify them for employment. Mahindra Group welcomes the opportunity to recruit such trained, capable youth.

Anand Mahindra tweeted that there are immense employment opportunities for Agniveer in the corporate sector. Young people equipped with leadership, teamwork and physical training will work to move our industry forward. These young people cover the entire spectrum from operations to administration and supply chain management.

The army announced the dates for starting the recruitment process

While the Army has also announced the dates for starting the recruitment process in all the three services. The Army informed that its recruitment process will start from July 1. The recruitment process for the Air Force will start from June 24, while the recruitment process for the Navy will start from June 25.

Candidates between the ages of 17.5 to 21 years can participate in this recruitment. However, a two-year exemption has also been granted for this year. The recruitment will last for four years. After this, 25 per cent of the employees will be re-admitted to the regular cadre on the basis of performance. Importantly, candidates will have no right to opt for further enlistment in the Armed Forces. Selection will be the exclusive jurisdiction of the government. Registration as an Airman in the regular cadre of Indian Air Force other than Medical Tradesmen will be given only to those personnel who have completed their period of service as Agniveer.
