New Delhi: After unveiling the teaser of Kangana Ranaut as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the makers of 'Emergency' have now unveiled Anupam Kher’s first look as political leader Jayaprakash Narayan.

Anupam Kher took to Twitter to unveil his look and wrote, “BIG: Happy and proud to essay the role of the man who questioned fearlessly, a rebel in the truest sense of the word, #JayaPrakashNarayan in #KanganaRanaut starrer and directorial next #Emergency. My 527th! Jai Ho! #JP #Loknayak (sic)."

Anupam Kher will have an important part in the film as Jayaprakash Narayan was the major opposing voice against Indira Gandhi during the emergency.

Earlier this month, a teaser was released revealing Kangana Ranaut as Indira Gandhi. The actress got a lot of praise for nailing the look perfectly. She was almost unrecognisable as the former prime minister of India.

For her role in 'Emergency', the actress took the time out to research the subject and the period in which the film is set. In order to get the look of one of the most powerful and famous politicians in the world, right, the actress ensured that she had the right prosthetics and demeanour to aid her. She roped in Oscar-winning makeup artist David Malinowski to achieve the right look. Malinowski won Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling for the movie The Darkest Hour (2017).

According to the actress, the Emergency was a watershed moment in the country’s political history and she was keen on showcasing that period on celluloid.

Produced under the banner of Kangana’s Manikarnika Films, 'Emergency' is directed by Kangana herself.
